It would break through armor, but probably would not do well for other applications. A warhead with a shaped charge is going to do less area of effect damage but would have more, what we would call here, puncture. I also kinda feel like too much emphasis is being put on elements for weapons that are not innately elemental. It makes a bit more sense given that this is set in the future to allow you to dial in your type of damage. There's the shrapnel which would be the IPS and the shock/blast wave that would create the innate knockdown/ragdoll. DE, I hope you consider taking a look at explosive launcher weapons in the future. These are just some ideas I've been thinking about based more on the way explosives actually work. They should also have an innate knockdown and/or ragdoll effect on enemies within the blast radius. Some should be primarily impact, puncture, slash, or a more balanced combination of two or three of those physical damage types. They should have a radial blast that inflicts an AOE of Physical(IPS) damage. I would love to see Launchers get the rework they deserve. I think it should be an AOE of IPS with innate knockdown and/or ragdoll within a certain radius. I underlined "physically" because the problem is explosive damage should include a physical damage type. Using Blast is an easy way to get an effect that "looks" like an explosive, but it doesn't physically effect enemies like one. I just don't think that's how an explosive weapon should work. Sounds perfect for an explosive weapon, right? Wrong. It has an explosive knockdown with a 5 meter radius.
My question is why doesn't DE use this thinking with launcher weapons? Like I said, Blast as a damage type makes sense on the surface. So even though it only has radiation damage, but no punch through or impact damage, they made it have punch through and impact innately. The point I'm trying to make is DE had an idea for how a plasma shotgun should work, so they just made it work that way. It also has innate punch through when shooting enemies. The Arca Plasmor is a weapon that shoots a plasma projectile that will stagger and knockback enemies with a guaranteed Impact proc. It sounds like it makes sense on the surface, but I think it should be treated more like the Arca Plasmor. What I don't understand is why Blast is used as the explosive damage type for Launchers. It seems to mostly proc Impact, but also Slash sometimes. What I noticed is how much better it is than other explosive weapons in the game. I think Launcher weapons need a rework and I'm specifically talking about launchers that fire an explosive projectile similar to an RPG.Īnyways, I was playing around with my dagger Zaw and Exodia Contagion.
